Ryan Carag

Executive Co-Lead

Ryan Carag

Ryan is a second year MBA student at the MIT Sloan school of Management and is a member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Prior to attending Sloan, Ryan was a software program manager at Microsoft's Automotive Business Division in the automotive telematics space, and helped to define and build the Microsoft Automotive platform from concept to the core technology behind such groundbreaking products as FIAT Blue&Me and Ford Sync. Furthering his interest for automotive and passion for entrepreneurship, Ryan also formed a company in the performance and motorsports automotive parts niche. Ryan's interests at MIT are in enabling mobile device scenarios, particularly through improved human machine interface and improved power storage and management in the areas of battery technology and the general infrastructure in which these devices live. Ryan is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.

Jimmy Chen

Jimmy Chen

Jimmy is currently a second year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Jimmy has a strong interest in the internet industry, with a focus on consumer service sector. In addition to his commitment to 100K organization committee, Jimmy has worked on strategic projects for Yahoo, NTT DoCoMo and Artaic Technology through MIT Ventureship and MIT MarketLab. Prior to attending Sloan, Jimmy worked as a Market Information Manager for Bank of America in Retail Banking Strategy. Jimmy earned his BA and BBA degree with high honors from University of Massachusetts Amherst's Commonwealth College program in 2002.

Louis Baltimore

Registration Co-Lead

Louis Baltimore is currently a first year MBA student at the MIT-Sloan School of Management. Prior to coming to Sloan, Louis managed anevent-driven long/short equity portfolio at First New York Securities.He holds a BA from Wesleyan University. In addition to helping with the MIT $100K, Louis intends to coach his fantasy football team Under Construction to his league’s Super Bowl and hopes to get this all done and still have time left over to attend class occasionally.

Shobin Uralil

Registration Co-Lead

Shobin is currently a 1st year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to coming to Sloan, Shobin worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group of Sempra Energy, a Fortune 500 Power & Gas company in San Diego. In his role at Sempra, Shobin evaluated investments in various power generation, natural gas pipeline and storage, and liquefied natural gas storage assets. He helped establish a renewable energy platform for Sempra by analyzing investment and development opportunities in wind, solar, biomass, biogas, and geothermal. Prior to Sempra, Shobin was an investment banking analyst in the Global Industrials and Services group at Credit Suisse in New York. He holds a BS in Finance and Technology Management from Georgetown University. In addition to his involvement in the EPC and $100K, Shobin is actively involved in the Sloan Energy & Environmental, MIT Energy, VCPE, and Soccer Clubs.

Brian Cantwell

Viral Marketing Co-Lead

Brian is a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he is a member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation program. At Sloan, Brian is focused on blending a passion for marketing with entrepreneurial aspirations. Prior to joining Sloan, Brian worked as a management consultant for Accenture, helping clients define customer strategies and use technology to enhance customer relationships. Brian is a published author of the white paper “Why Technical Breakthroughs Fail: A History of Public Concern with Emerging Technologies,” written for the MIT Auto-ID Center. Brian holds a BA in History from Harvard University. He loves taking photographs, reviewing movies, rooting for the Red Sox, and learning about wine.


Deepak Janakiraman

Viral Marketing Co-Lead

Deepak is currently a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to coming to Sloan, Deepak was a Product Marketing Manager at Dell, managing a Blade Server Line. He holds an MS from Georgia Institute of Technology and a BS from Texas A&M University. In addition to his commitment to $100K, Deepak intends to focus his time at Sloan on Tech Startups and the VC industry.

Sombit Mishra

Viral Marketing Co-Lead

Sombit is currently a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Prior to coming to Sloan, Sombit managed product marketing,business analytics and technology development at GlobalGiving.org, a DC-based startup that has created an efficient international marketplace for philanthropy. From 2004-2008, Sombit helped GlobalGiving raise over $8 million in donation revenue for 400+grassroots projects in 80 countries. He holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA from Northwestern University. In addition to his commitment to $100K, Sombit intends to focus his time at Sloan on collaborating with and building startups in energy,biotechnology, and mobile communications.


Emily Short

Marketing Co-Lead

Emily is a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Emily is interested in high-tech startup ideas and hopes to start her own venture in the near future. Prior to coming to Sloan, Emily was a software engineer in Silicon Valley, working on neuroscience-based educational software. She also was a project leader for the Hands On Bay Area organization and a campaigner for the California Clean Money Campaign. Prior to that, Emily got her B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In her spare time Emily likes to participate in community service projects, listen to NPR, cook and ski.


Courtney Skay

Viral Marketing Co-Lead

Courtney Skay is currently a first-year MBA student at MIT Sloan. Prior to Sloan, she worked as an analyst in the Technology Investment Banking group at Lehman Brothers, where she worked with the software, communication equipment, and IT services sectors. She holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University. Courtney is also involved with the VCPE and MediaTech organizations on campus. In her spare time (when she can find it), she enjoys running and cooking.


Shuba Swaminathan

Marketing Co-Lead

Shuba is currently a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Prior to coming to Sloan, Shuba ran her own boot strapped tech.start-up, Smart Shopping Solutions, in Silicon Valley. As the founder,she chose to not accept VC funding when it was offered, and was therefore able to name herself CEO. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur,she was an intrapreneur at Micron Technology Inc. for over 8 years and was a geek wearing many hats. She is one of the original inventors of the USB flash drive and her claim to fame is a Lego Mindstorms robot she built to collect coffee cups left behind by a messy room mate.  She holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In her non-Sloan hours, she enjoys spending time with her three year old son, who likes nothing better than disassembling Mom's Lego creations.

Ivy Cheung

Ivy is currently a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. At Sloan, Ivy is focused on learning the process and techniques in entrepreneurship and learning the different frameworks to solve real-life problems. Prior to coming to Sloan, she managed a software development team with employees in US and India for Oracle, Inc. She also worked in software start-up where she managed client implementations and business development. Ivy received her B.A. in Economics and certificate in Network & Telecommunication Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Ivy is passionate about traveling to exotic places, trying out new food, and simply experiencing the world.

Yukari Kuramoto

Yukari Kuramoto is a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program.Prior to Sloan, Yukari was a management consultant in McKinsey &Company for four years. She worked in wide-range industry --High-tech, Media & Telecom, Automobile, and Logistics, helping her clients to develop strategies, create new businesses, and design and transform organizations. Yukari holds MS and BS of physics from University of Tokyo. In addition to organizing 100K, Yukari uses time on her research about "organizations for innovation", while drinking her favorite wine and whiskey.

Dennis Lu

Events Co-Lead

Dennis is a first year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. At Sloan, Dennis is studying finance, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, while pursuing a career as a commodities or emissions trader. Prior to MIT Sloan, Dennis worked as a technical consultant for SunGard Energy Systems, implementing energy trading and risk management systems. He has also worked as a software developer at HBK Investments, a large multi-strategy hedge fund in Dallas, TX. Dennis has a B.A. in Computer Science, a Master of Computer Science, and a M.S. in Computer Science from Rice University. Dennis is an avid cook and a news junkie.

Divya Jani

Events Co-Lead

Divya is a first-year MBA student at MIT Sloan. She comes to Sloan after four years at Dell where she worked closely with Dell's worldwide factories to launch new products as a part of the Operations division. Her first two years at Dell were spent managing vendor relationships and in-house testing in the Imaging and Printing division. She's an active volunteer and most recently helped plan the 2007 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Austin. Divya holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University and a M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas.

Fan Jin

Fanis a first year MBA student at MIT Sloan in the Entrepreneurship andInnovation track. In addition to her responsibilities with the $100KCompetition, Fan is a member of the Sloan MediaTech Club, VentureCapital and Private Equity Club and Innovation Club. Prior to Sloan,Fan worked as a senior analyst at Lehman Brothers, focusing on businessstrategy and product development in the investment management division.She received a BSE in Operations Research and Financial Engineeringfrom Princeton University.

Kelsey McCarty

Events Co-Lead

Kelsey is a first year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to matriculating to MIT, Kelsey worked as a healthcare consultant for Strategic Management. As a consultant she focused on Medicare and Medicaid regulatory analysis, risk assessment, and compliance for hospital-based clients. Before Strategic Management, she spent four years conducting pediatric oncology research at the Georgetown University Lombardi Cancer Center. Kelsey holds a M.S. in Tumor Biology from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Biology from St. Mary¹s College of Maryland. In addition to her involvement with $100K, Kelsey is an accomplished musician on the piano, guitar, oboe, flute, and alto sax, and enjoys snowboarding, cooking, and travel.

Tom Meese

Creative Co-Lead

Tom is currently a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Prior to coming to Sloan, Tom worked as a biomedical engineer for InfraReDx, a Boston area startup that has developed the first device cleared by the FDA to assess the chemical composition of the coronary arteries. From 2006-2008, Tom helped InfraReDx reach the market by performing activities ranging from heart dissection to algorithm development. He holds a BS in biomedical engineering from Duke University. In addition to his work with the $100K, Tom is a VP of the Sloan biomedical business club and is embarking on a project with Sloan Entrepreneurs for International Development focusing on improving health care access in Nigeria.

Haihong Sun

Haihong is currently a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Haihong worked for Credit Suisse Group in New York City for six years. Her last role with the firm before coming to Sloan is COO for Banking & Client IT department.Haihong has an undergraduate degree in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies from Peking University, and a master's degree in Information Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. Haihong is dedicated in initiating her first start-up, contributing to the preservation and inheritance of oriental folk art though fusion of folk artistry with modern technology and business management disciplines. She will be happy to meet people with similar interest and hopes to find her business partners and funding while at Sloan.

Anand is currently a first year MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to coming to MIT Sloan, Anand was a Business Analyst with McKinsey & Company where he worked extensively with clients in the high-tech industry on topics ranging from strategy to marketing, organization and performance management. Anand also worked on similar issues with clients in other industries including banking, airlines and consumer goods. In addition, he co-authored internal papers on the impact of technology developments on the server and data center landscape, on applying lean manufacturing techniques to software development and on improving organization and performance management at the interface of IT and business. Anand received his BS in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Dennis Rivera

Dennis is a second-year MBA candidate at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to attending MIT Sloan, Dennis managed pre-sales activities directly resulting in over $10mn of annual contract revenue as a Sales Engineer for Con Edison Communications, a NYC-based telecommunications start-up that served enterprise clients. Subsequent to its acquisition by RCN Business Solutions, Dennis was part of the Systems Engineering integration team and was responsible for training. Dennis is interested in entrepreneurial development opportunities in emerging markets, specifically in the Middle East. His summer internship was with Mubadala Development Corporation, a $10bn sovereign wealth fund based in Abu Dhabi focused on diversifying the local economy through business development and strategic investment opportunities. At Mubadala, Dennis analyzed the strategic and financial merits for $2.4bn of prospective acquisition, investment and joint venture opportunities in mobile telecommunications operators across the region. Carlo Tursi

Robert Carter Dunn

Partnership Co-Lead

Carter is a first year MBA candidate at MIT Sloan and a member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation track. Prior to coming to MIT Sloan, Carter worked as a Senior Engineer for Boston Scientific in their Cardiac Rhythm Management division. While at Boston Scientific, he worked in Operations designing high performance wireless test systems for implantable defibrillators. A division wide statistics and Six Sigma mentor, he served as an advocate and resource for engineers applying statistical methods to improve product performance and cut costs.While at MIT Sloan, Carter will explore the startup space around global health delivery and smart grids, with an eye towards founding his own firm or working at a startup in business development.Carter holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Hobbies (used to) include Muay Thai, rock climbing, and cooking.

Crede Kinder

Crede is a first year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Before coming to Sloan he worked as a technology strategist for StarHub, a mobile, fixed line, cable, and broadband operator located in Singapore. In that role he developed StarHub’s network roadmap, selected technologies for capital investment projects, and negotiated vendor contracts. In addition to his work in the 100K Organization, he is an organizer for the MIT Venture Capital Conference in December, and is actively involved in multiple clubs at Sloan. Crede holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with High Honors.

Borja Lopez-Bravo Yarte

Outreach Lead

Borja Lopez-Bravo Yarte is a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to Sloan, Borja was a manager of Corporate & Acquisition Finance with Banco Popular Espanol, S.A., the third largest bank in Spain, with more than 2,400 branches and $ 4,24 billion in revenues. Borja holds a BA in Business Administration from CUNEF (Spain), one of the top Spanish business schools. In addition to organizing 100K, Borja is interested in looking out for new business opportunities. Outside of school Borja enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his friends.

Julie Christensen

Judging Co-Lead

Julie is a first year MBA student at MIT Sloan School of Management. In addition to her involvement in the $100K, Julie is actively involved in the MediaTech club and organizing the Venture Capital Conference. Prior to coming to MIT, Julie worked as a program manager and consultant at Ascentium, a marketing and technology consulting company based in the Pacific Northwest. Earlier in her career, she also spent several years at Amazon.com, both as a software engineer and later as a technical program manager. Julie holds a BS in Computer Science and a BA in Linguistics, with a minor in Russian Literature, from the University of Washington in Seattle. Outside of school, Julie enjoys scuba diving, video games, and traveling.

Jean-Nicolas Gagnon

Judging Co-Lead

Nick is a first year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a member of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation program. Prior to Sloan, Nick worked for a Montreal-based biotechnology startup where he was in charge of developing the company’s cancer therapeutic platform and securing research funding. Most recently, Nick worked for the Public Health Agency of Canada where he was in charge of the Human Pathogen Import Permit program. He led the development of an information management system and was in charge of developing and delivering national biosafety trainings. Nick holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. In Microbiology and Immunology from McGill University. He is particularly interested in innovation in the life sciences industry and wish to focus on this area while at MIT Sloan.

Francesco Renzo

Judging Co-Lead

Francesco is an MBA student at Sloan, fervent about new technologies, entrepreneurship and new venture financing. Before seeing the light, he used to work as a management consultant at McKinsey. During his consulting career, he worked in a range of different industries, including energy, travel and logistics, insurance and banking, mostly in Italy. He was also awarded a fellowship by the McKinsey Global Institute, the independently funded economic research arm at McKinsey, editing the McKinsey Quarterly. At MGI, Francesco co-lead an extensive research project on the future and implication of China urbanization, based in Shanghai.Holding a summa cum laude MS in Finance from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy), he also painfully experienced a summer internship for UBS Investment Bank, based in London.He is passionate about whatever relates to (preferably Southern) Italy, with a clear bias towards the three F’s (football, food, Ferrari). Francesco spends his (little) spare time, playing guitar, singing, sailing or planning trips with friends.

Ann Verbin

Ann Verbin is currently a first-year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Prior to Sloan, she was a senior analyst in the New York office of Analysis Group, an economic consulting firm; she has also worked as an operations research analyst at ZS Associates, a sales and marketing strategy consulting firm. Ann holds a B.S.E. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University. In addition to her work with the $100K, Ann is actively involved with the MediaTech and Marketing clubs. In her spare time, Ann enjoys reading cooking blogs and trying out new recipes.
