Development

• Hidden Markets will collect, organize, add value to, and provide market information about the informal markets in developing countries that those seeking to do business therein need to build and capitalize upon a functional market infrastructure.
• Kettlectric by Thermoversion. The Kettlectric system will provide home-scale, on-demand power generation for those in the developing world without access to electricity.
• Sanergy. Building networks of low-cost toilets in slums; collecting the waste and processing it into biogas and fertilizer to sell
• U + Capital is a student-led venture with the social goal of extending educational funding to capable students without regard to their current financial situation. By pioneering the Personal Equity asset class, U + Capital will offer money for school on terms that scale to future income, protecting students from excessive debt after graduation.
• VALA the informal market connect.  VALA is a company that uses mobile phone technology to instantly connect consumers to what they need and desire from vendors in the informal market of urban India.  VALA promises to increase the market activity of low-income vendors, while opening a sizeable profit potential through tiered fees, advertisement, and high-value data.

Energy

• C-Crete Technologies. Concrete is the most widely used manufacturing material in the world. Regrettably, its production process contributes to more than 10% of CO2 emissions worldwide. Developing a nanoegineered concrete not only has the potential of reducing CO2 emissions,  but also can be tunned to be much stronger than conventional concrete.
• Electrickshaw.  The New Electric Three-Wheeler for Urban Cities in India. The “Electrickshaw” is a cheaper, lightweight, and zero tailpipe-emission electric vehicle. It is a replacement for the unsustainable and polluting yet increasingly useful and predominant mode of Para Transit mobility in Indian metropolitan cities.
• OzComp Natural Gas Compressors for Wellhead Compression.  High efficiency double-acting compressor technology developed in conjunction with MIT with high serviceability and low weight/footprint for natural gas applications at the wellhead. Modular design and lower manufacturing cost are other benefits as well.
• ReGreen Inc. – Simulated Moving Bed Heat Regenerator (SiMB). We have developed a heat regenerator that can absorb the heat from flue gases emitted by Power Generation and Iron & Steel industries with 99% energy efficiency. This heat can be reused to heat up the blast furnaces. It also absorbs SOx and NOx emissions from flue gases with a 96% removal efficiency of SOx and 95% for NOx.
• ThinkLite is a Massachusetts based efficiency firm that provides energy efficient lighting solutions to businesses and households at no upfront costs. ThinkLite uses advanced technologies to measure energy consumed by lighting only to provide solutions to save up to 80% on monthly lighting costs. ThinkLite takes a percentage of the guaranteed monthly savings realized by the customer.

Life Sciences

• 3DX creates 3D x-ray imaging using existing x-ray devices with novel and affordable technology.
• Callinix: Advanced Drug Screening Technology. The objective of Callinix is to provide advanced drug-screening solutions using patented technology to assemble pharmacologically relevant metabolic pathways in microfluidic devices that permit high-throughput, parallel analysis.
• MEDi is an innovative solution for medication management in hospitals. Using latest technology, hospital staff can save both lives, costs and effort by verifying that the correct patient is getting the correct medication at the correct time.
• SeventhSense.  Our product aims at enabling patients who have complete loss of hand or forearm muscle function to control home appliances using their mind. A non-intrusive headset would detect the patient’s brain wave changes and send out signals to receivers connected to home appliances all around the patient’s room.
• The Apex by Hydrangle Systems.  Hydrangle Systems has discovered a way for men diagnosed with prostate cancer to maintain potency while undergoing prostate cancer treatment surgeries. The Apex by Hydrangle Systems is a probe-like device that is used during prostate cancer “freezing” treatments to protect the “sex nerves” surrounding the prostate and preserve potency.

Mobile

• MediCompass is a centralized, accessible platform to help individuals decide if their symptoms require medical attention. Available via SMS, voice, and Web, MediCompass allows an individual to access a multitude of decision support algorithms for selected illnesses that will instruct an individual on a course of action.
• MobileBusiness.  Connect emerging market merchants with customers, suppliers and bankers through a web service that provides merchants with customer, inventory and financial management. Merchants will access the system with their mobile phones.
• My2cents offers mobile product comments to consumers and an innovative approach to market research for companies.
• Psst- Personalized Sleep Systems Technologies.  A low cost silent and smart waking system that will energize and empower you and your partner  with better sleep.
• Pushpins is a viral and interactive couponing platform that pushes coupons as consumers browse and scan products in grocery and retail settings.

Products & Services

• Back-A-Band.  Our online label is designed to address the needs of musicians and enthusiasts by creating an investment community to promote popular bands and produce their albums. Anyone who visits the website can invest in artists buying $10 shares Once we have reached $60,000, we produce a CD and the income is split between BAB, the band, the investors.
• HUDmet is the ultimate “smart helmet” for motorcycle riders. It features navigation and phone integration displayed through the helmet visor using a transparent Heads Up Display (HUD). This product will provide a level of safety and convenience that is unprecedented by providing critical data without the rider having to look away from the road.
• Jumpseewow is a video web site that enables preschoolers and their caregivers to watch short, originally produced documentary videos about subjects that interest them. These entertaining, educational, and age-appropriate videos will empower children to pursue and engage their interests while learning new vocabulary and scientific concepts.
• Leotus Home Cooling.  Leotus is redefining home cooling with a modular room air conditioner. Leotus’ patent pending technology splits the traditional unit into three parts- an indoor unit, an outdoor unit, and a connector bridge- resulting in a system that is safe and easy to install, tastefully designed, and allows full use of your window.
• PHRides:  Protecting Personal Health Records against Medical Fraud.  PHRides is an online service that offers a novel pre-pay fraud prevention mechanism by allowing users to reconcile billing information in Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) statements with their personal health records stored in Google Health or Microsoft Healthvault.

Web/IT

• Bytefalcon connects data across web services by providing a platform to connect data publishers with data subscribers. Bytefalcon is a marketplace for the web’s data.
• InStore is developing a technology driven marketing platform for retail stores. Our solution  is based around the value proposition OpenTable brought to restaurant owners: InStore can get customers in the door of retail stores, InStore can generate sales.
• Muugu.com.  Muugu.com is a social networking website and mobile application for social gaming. We aim to create a single website that connects all devices and games to one database, social network, currency economy, and contest technology— and we support it by organizing real world and virtual contests at the local, regional, and national levels.
• MyHometownLink.com aims to revolutionize the part-time parent-to-student job market (babysitting, tutoring, yard-working, etc.) by wrapping a “LinkedIn style” social network around the job search.  This will directly connect parents to students through mutual, trusted connections.
• peerTransfer is an innovative online international money transfer & payments startup out of MIT.  Thanks to its patent pending technology, it provides individuals and small businesses with a low cost alternative compared to international bank transfers, saving around $300 for every $10.000 sent while increasing convenience and reliability.
